At the Name
of Jesus
For one week, a small room in Ise Lodge became a place of prayer. It was one of 2,728 rooms, in 141 nations, praying together. This is what happened inside.
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

When the Global Week of Prayer first began, 52 prayer rooms opened. This September, 2,728 rooms opened across 141 nations, all praying under one theme: At the Name of Jesus.
At Christ the King on Deeble Road, people were invited to pray in Room 3, or at home, from 6 to 13 September. On Saturday 12 September the church held a silent retreat. The room was simple: folding tables, a wooden cross, coloured pencils, highlighter pens, a chalkboard and an inflatable globe. What people left behind is on this page.
The Power of Prayer
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."James 5:16
Kneel at the cross.
Say thank you.
Then dare to ask.
Visitors were invited to thank God for answered prayer, to kneel or sit before the cross and confess what had gone wrong, and then to pray the big prayers they had never prayed, or had stopped praying because they didn't think they would be answered.

There's no age barrier to encountering Jesus. Visitors wrote a list of every nursery, school and college they could think of, and prayed for the students and staff in each one.

Pray for your neighbourhood
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."John 13:34
Visitors drew spider diagrams: a name or a place in the middle, and around it the things to pray for. Families, elderly people, people who are ill, people who are lonely, people overwhelmed by work or life. These are two of the diagrams, redrawn from the room.
Justice and Prayer
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."Micah 6:8
On strips of coloured paper, people wrote the name of a person, a situation or a place that needs God's justice and mercy, then looped each one through the last. Link by link, the prayers became a chain.

A call to prayer for the nations
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."2 Chronicles 7:14
Each visitor chose their own country, or a country God had placed on their heart, and coloured it in while praying for forgiveness and healing. By the end of the week the paper world map looked like this.

As they covered the map in colour, people prayed that God would cover the world with his glory, and that each nation would know the good news, freedom, healing and favour this passage describes.
Keep praying
Everything in Room 3 was made from paper, pens and a little courage. You can do every one of these at your kitchen table.
Walk and pray
Print a map of your area. Pray for each street as you walk it, and highlight the ones you've covered.
List the schools
Write down every nursery, school and college near you. Pray for the children and staff in each one.
Draw your neighbours
A spider diagram of the people near you. Add a prayer for each and keep it where you'll see it.
Make a chain
Write a person, place or situation needing justice on a paper strip. Add a link every day.
A silent retreat in the churchMidway through the week, Christ the King also held a day of silence: space to stop, listen, and hear God's voice in the quiet.
